Reports that the body of a Mulatto woman was found in the canal opposite 21st St and is now lying in an old brick shed on south side of Dock.
Body bears marks of violence, and has not yet been recognized. There is no civil authority to act in the matter.

States the has received a special pardon from President Johnson, and petitions for 400 or 500 slab sheds, which were built upon his land, contrary to his wishes. Does not state where his land is situated, but from wording of application is supposed to be in Prince Edward Co. Va.

Col. Brown. Mr Daniels is a plain honest man living near Farmville: his grievance is partially stated in the within paper. He will more fully state it to you.
I think his case is a hard one and he ought to be relieved. I hope you will give the matter effective attention.
