Reports that the house occupied by him as an office has been restored to its former owner. W.E. Taylor. Mr Taylor proposes to lease it to the Bureau until Jany 1st 1866 at fifty dollars per month. Asks approval to such lease.

Respectfully referred to Col. O. Brown for his instructions This will be a precedent for hiring offices and Quarters for the officers and clerks of this Bureau. The present policy pursued will will bring the Bureau to this step sooner or later and even now it will be difficult to avoid it for a month longer.

None of the wood has been removed yet, attention invited to endorsement of Col Strawbridge in regard to Gen'l McKibbons order which is merely a "wood pass" given to teamsters as well as farmers not intended to restore wood, evident from the fact that the wood was turned over to the Bureau by Gen'l Hartsuff.
