The house is occupied by the Asst Supt of Norfolk Co who is now looking out for a place of shelter β€” as he can see no reason why the house should not be restored to its owner.

Encloses a copy of Mrs Mary F Mallorys Petition which Capt Wilder allowed him to take, containing the endorsement of Col Brown "that the question of rent would be determined hereafter." States that Mrs Mallory is willing to rent it for the next year to some of the freedmen who now occupy it. States that a portion of the property was rented out for $248. which Mrs M is entitled to collect from the renters, and will collect it if she can. "Capt Wilder not considering it his duty to collect it for Mrs M. should he not? β€” else I fear it will be lost to her".
