that Mr Boykin left Portsmouth and was in Rebel army evidently the Quartermaster transferred the land with the stables. I would suggest however that the stables be sold at once - and as they cost the Quartermaster Dept at least ten thousand dollars, I believe they would bring in a large sum for use of Bureau. they are said to be the finest stables in Norfolk Co - but as the land will probably soon have to be given up, the stables will have to be sold for lumber.

Respectfully returned, As these stables are on land belonging to other parties, and as the Bureau has no use for them, I would respectfully suggest that they be sold at Public Auction or private sale as soon as possible, If this is not soon done they will be destroyed, as we can obtain no guards to protect them,

Acknowledging receipt of S.O. 99 restoring the property of B. P. Lee. States that upon it is a Gov't Saw Mill and about a dozen Shanty's of little or no value, that a great amount of lumber has been cut on the place, leaving a large amount of down wood.
He has Mr Lee's promise that the most of the wood may be cut and used by the colored people provided the Gov't will allow him to retain the buildings above referred to. Suggests that application be made for the buildings as he understands they are to be sold at auction

Respectfully referred to Brevet Brig Gen'l Ed. W. Smith A.A.G. - I presume the plan suggested by Capt Wilder cannot be carried out, without a Special order.
If the Maj Gen'l Comdg would issue such an order it would greatly benefit the Freedmen on the Peninsula.
