Respectully returned to Mr Taylor thro Capt Flagg, on the report of Capt Flagg that no wood was on hand for destitute Freedmen, except what was on your farm, the following telegram was sent.
"Capt A. S. Flagg A.Q.M. & Supt &c you must use the wood you have on hand to prevent suffering. Keeping account of the quantity and the source from which it is received.

Calls "attention to the manner and disposition of prisoners sent to the Freedmens Court for trial. Many cases recently noticed to have been discharged either with a very small fine or no reprimand whatever, were well known to this Office to be characters, which by such disposition will be led on to greater crime," &c &c

Enquiring as to the meaning of a part of S. O. No. 88. of 27th Oct. which refers to rents accrued, states, that his pardon is dated 3d July, asks if he is entitled to any portion of the rents of this year, if so how much.
States that he has sundry articles of property at Fort Magruder held by the Freedmens Bureau, and a number at the Military Head Qrs. in Williamsburg, would be glad to get them as speedily as possible.

Respectfully returned to Mr Percy - These men employed under Lt McArdle at Suffolk had no rolls kept of their time. They and their families were supported by the Gov't and the men required to work on the fortifications.
Capt Brown had nothing to do with them.
I see no chance for these men to receive pay for this work.

Desires information in regard to the best mode of procedure in obtaining a colored woman & 3 children who were kidnapped. also if he could be authorized to use the Military at Winchester. to arrest Leary & force him to disclose the whereabouts of said woman & children & compel him to pay expenses & damages which have been sustained
