Acknowledging receipt of Mr C. E. Johnstons letter of 4th inst asking to know if he was willing to lease his farm, states that he is not willing to rent it to the Freedmen's Bureau, as he desires to cultivate the unoccupied land (which has been restored to him) and the crops would be very insecure in the neighborhood of a body of negroes.
