Respectfully returned to Col. O. Brown Asst Comr with the remark that on inquiry of Mr Churchill I find that no lands were hired of Mr White. The place was mostly occupied by very poor people, a few agreed to pay some rent. $63. were collected and returned before he called.

By your orders what is collected is not to be given up, except in crops. Only 2 1/2 bbls have been collected. The bal over $100. was left for him (as by your orders for his share) to collect from.
