His attention also especially called to the fact that Capot Barnes dates his papers 27th Dec 1865, which cannot be the case in as much as my property Returns for 1865 have already been closed up and forwarded.

When Dr Pratt took charge at Point of Rocks he was ordered to receipt for all Hospital & Bureau property- 
This property he turned over undue to Dr Harris at Richmond. Dr Harris receipted to him for most of the articles on these lists sent by Capt Barnes. I send herewith an order to Dr Pratt to receipt for such property as he had in hand and did not receipt for - He can then receive receipts from Dr Brower for each as has not been receipted for to to him already.

L.R. W.83.  Relative to seizure of certain Houses &c in Norfolk Va belonging to John Southgate, and to whom the property is leased. & for what sum.

The property of John Southgate was turned over to the Bureau by Maj Hudson Treasury Agent. July 1st 1865. House No. 3. Freemason Street was leased to S. W. Webb for six months from Sept 1st 1865, at $12.50/100 per month 
House No. 7. was leased to Porter Sherman for three months from Oct 1st 65 at $15. per month, the rent in both cases, the same as that charged by the Treasury Dept. 
House No 5 was assigned as quarters to the Teachers of the A.M. Association and leased to them for one year at the nominal rent of one (1) dollar per month.
On the restoration of the property, by S.O. No 62 Series of 1865. from these Head Quarters, the house No. 5. Freemason Street was rerented from the owner, for the use of the Teachers and rent paid for the whole time of lease in advance. House No 8 Granby Street was in possession of the Military. and used as quarters by the Gen'l in command of Norfolk Dist. at the time the property was restored by the Bureau.
