Endorsement on letter of Capt. C.B. Wilder AQM & Supt dated Fort Monroe Va Jan 26th 1866 (W.182) acknowledging receipt of S.O. No. 15. & turn over to Mr S. Ellison his property consisting of a Saw Mill. Encloses a letter from Mr Hunt and asks if the engine and Gov't fixtures shall go with the Mill, &c &c.

Respectfully referred to Col. O. Brown Supt Freedmens Bureau, Va with the information that while admitting the remarkably prompt and perfect satisfaction invariably obtained at the Head Quarter Office of Col. O. Brown when papers pass into the hands of his subordinate officers they are delayed an unreasonable time. frequently lost. and information. regarding this disposition, either witheld or denied, resulting in frustrating the wishes of the U.S. Gov't to speedily put the property - restored by order of the U.S.- in possession of the owners thereof.

Endorsement on letter of G.H. Northam dated Warsaw Richmond Co Jan 18th/66 (N.6) states that the freedmen refuse to make labor contracts for more than one or two months. and in consequence planters are making arrangements to secure foreign labor for the coming spring.
States there are a large number of fatherless colored children. and recommends that they be bound out until they are 21- requests to be assigned to the charge of Rich'd and Westmoreland  Counties in plac of Lieut Haskell.

Respty referred to Maj James Johnson Supt 10th Dist Va. who will communicate with the writer. It is believed that the regulations of the Bureau judiciously carried out will remedy the evils complained of.

Continuation of endorsements on letter of Capt C.B. Wilder AQM & Supt dated Fort Monroe Va Jan 26th/66 (W.178) acknowledging receipt of papers directing 
the removal of colored woman from Asylum at Williamsburg-
States that there was a mistake about the woman pronounced "Idiotic" by the Board. that the Doctors of the Asylum agreed she is insane and suggest that she be allowed to remain for another examination &c &c.
