Respty returned to Capt C.B. Wilder AQM & Supt 9th Dist Va. As the endorsement of W.H. Hunt dated Jan 29th/66 is in conflict with Capt Wilder's dated Jan 11th 1866. the Asst Commissioner directs that Capt W inform him who cut the wood on the Daniel Minor Estate. These papers to be returned.

Lieut Kolbe tried this case in his official capacity as Provost Marshal- not as Asst Supt Freedmens Bureau.

It is not the desire of the Asst Com'r to compel the citizens to have contracts witnessed by an officer of the Bureau.
