I only know that when I reported to this place for duty Dec 9"/65, I found Dr. Jones attending the sick freedmen here and upon inquiry I also found that he was acting in good faith and only upon verbal instructions from the Dist Commanders - continuing to do so until relieved by Surg Harris from Richmond Dec 20"/65. I am convinced that he rendered good service which was absolutely required at that time, and was rendered upon the supposition that the encourage.
