the freedmen threatened his life, this they deny but assert that he threatened theirs.
I am satisfied that he takes this irregular contumacious course because he wishes to make undue profit from his land, hoping that as the first contract was rewritten it could be broken.
He is, I believe, further prejudiced because said freedmen have in his opinion reported him for selling Whiskey. (I have ascertained that he sells liquor in his store) These statements and the endorsement of Dr. Reed are respectfully submitted.
