Buxton continue highly advantageous to the destitute Freedmen and the Dept  During the present month many removals have been effected, hoomes secured for young boys able to do light field work and women not encumbered with too many or very young children. Farming operations have progressed fairly, but are made subsidiary to the main business of scattering and providing for the freed people. So far there is little epidemic sickness and no Small Pox orders being positive to prevent travel to and from the city. In reduction of number of dependents I am disappointed as for every house vacated and new one erected some old or miserable young |
