|   |   |   |   |   |   |   |   |   |   |   |   |   | I respectfully report that the destitute Freedmen on the Poor farm had rather diminished during the past month and those remaining have shown a disposition to plant small patches of land, which are located and prepared for them. With the completion of four (4) houses in progress building operations will be suspended and the carpenters are now discharged. The present provision of houses is ample to meet all probable demands as little disposition is evinced to come to the Poor farm if it can possibly be avoided.  The Farm crop proper of Corn, Oats & Potatoes is all planted and looks promising. With the exception of the teamsters the work has been performed without pay and by men and women whose infirmities or encumbrances prevent them procuring homes. I am gratified to report that the sanitary condition of the people |
