Virginia. Elizabeth County to wit:

Mr Fredrick W Jett and Charles K Mallory citizens of the county of Elizabeth City aforesaid do make the following statements on oaths 
Said Fredrick W Jett states that he is forty seven years of age, has been a citizen of the county of Elizabeth from upwards of twenty years. That he was well acquainted under John Armistead late of said county. who died seized of a certain tract of land in the county of Elizabeth City situate on Back River and known as the Mill tract that Samuel W Armistead of said county his son is the only only heir at law of said John Armistead dec'd. Who died in the early part of June 1864 before the 11th day of June 1864. This affiant was at his funeral and helped to bury him. Affiant has been absent from said county since the 20 April 1861 to the present times. F.W. Jett said Charles K Mallory states that he is forty five years of age has resided in said county of Elizabeth City from the month of June 1845 to the present time except his absence during the late rebellion. he is now residing in said county. has read the foregoing statements of FW Jett in relation to John Armistead & Samuel W Armistead [[knows them of his ?]] knowledge to be true. he assisted at the funeral of said John Armistead
