early in June 1864, and helped to bury him. Knows that he was the owner of the tract of land above mentioned in fees. and we have in raising the money to buy it. and knows of the said Samuel W. Armistead as his only heir at law.

I William Lowry Justice of the Peace in the county of Elizabeth City in the state of Virginia do certify that F W Jett & C R Mallory whose names are signed to the forgoing certificates personally appeared before me in the county aforesaid and made oath to the truth of the statements to which their names are respectively signed. I further certify that I am well acquainted with said Jett & Mallory and that they are reliable men and these statements worthy of all facts and credits before any tribunal 
given under my hand this October 24th 1865
