0135 Copy LEASE FOR HOUSES AND TENEMENTS. Memorandum of Agreement made this first day September A.D. 1865, between Charles E Johnson Agent of the Bureau of Refugees Freedmen and Abandoned Lands, in the city of Norfolk, Va., and James E. McKenny of the same City and State of Va. WITNESSETH that the party of the first part leases unto the party of the second part, the following described premises: One Brick Dwelling House No 34 Boush St. Norfolk Abandoned by R.H Baker In behalf of said Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands, for the term of six months and as much longer as the parties can agree. The term to commence on the twentieth day of September A.D. 1865. [[strikethrough]]Five days notice to be given by either party for the termination of this lease. [[/strikethrough]] The rent to be seventeen (17) dollars per month, in advance. Property to be returned in as good condition as it now is in, loss by fire or other unavoidable injury excepted.
