Petersburg July 21st 1865
I, John D. Mathews, formerly Clerk of the Court of the County of Prince George, in the State of Virginia, do hereby certify that, Edward Comer is the legal owner of a certain tract of land called Causon's - containing Four hundred fifty four and one half (454 1/2) acres, about Two (2) miles from City Point.  Said tract of land is bounded on the North by Appomattox River, on the West by the lands of Wm Nelson and F. Temple, on the South by Wm G. Birchett, and B.T. Hart's estate, and on the East by C. Proctor and Richard Epps.  Said Comer also owns a lot of land at City Point with a Cottage house thereon, containing One and three fourths acres (1 3/4) Also another lot called School House
