In the name of God: amen. I, Jacob Ham of the County of Elizabeth City in the State of Virginia, do make this my last will and testament as follows
Viz. I give, bequeath and devise to my Aunt Virginia Cooper, widow of James N. Cooper dec'd, all the real and personal estate of [[strikethrough]] any [[/strikethrough]] every kind and description, to which I am entitled from the Estate of grand father James Phillips dec'd, to have and to hold to her in absolute property forever. I also loan to my said Aunt Virginia Cooper the plantation on Back River in Elizabeth City County Va, of which my father Jacob Ham died seized, for and during the full term and period of her natural life. All the balance of my estate real and personal, including the said plantation on Back River after the termination of the life estate therein of said Virginia Cooper, I desire to be disposed off among my heirs at law according to the statute of Virginia, regulating the descents and distribution of real [[strikethrough]] estate [[/strikethrough]] and personal estate, which may be in force at my decease. I desire all my debts to be paid out of the personal estate which I devised from my father Jacob Ham. So as not to interfere with or diminish the property I have left to my said Aunt Virginia Cooper.

I appoint Jefferson C. Phillips and Samuel W. Phillips executors of this my last will and request that they be permitted to qualify as such without giving any security. Given under my hand and seal this 22'd June 1865
