The undersigned Elizabeth R. Curtis in behalf of herself and infant son James. M. Curtis, most respectfully submits the following petition.

That as the widow of her Deceased husband Daniel. P. Curtis, who died before the war, she owns the tract of land called "Lands End", situate in the lower end of Mulberry island, Warwick County Virginia, and containing about 764 acres.  And that she and her said infant son James, own the undivided tract of land called "Balthrope", situate in said county near the Court House, and containing about 1100 acres, as will fully appear by the two certificates of the Clerk of said county herewith filed marked A and B.  Your petitioner now shows that, she is an aged lady and her said son James is an infant of tender age, & that she was compelled to leave her said farm "Lands End", on which she resided, in the spring of, 1862, because of its exposed condition to military operations, and went near Danville Virginia with her little son, where she resided quietly &
