The undersigned Humphrey H. Curtis and Mr C.Mhilaker most respectfully submit the following petition. That they are the joint owners in in fie of a tractor of land called "Lively Oaks", situated in Warwick County, about four miles from the Court. However, formerly owned by Simms. R. Whitaker Deceased, and containing about 100 acres, so fully appears by certificate of the clerk of said county herewith filed, marked Al. In the beginning of the war, one of the undersigned, Toioit; Mr C. Whitaker, lived on said farm, but had to leave and abandon it, in a fire, 1862,Wgen General McClellan marched against York Town, in consequence of said farm becoming the theater of battle, and when the mansion house, together with every other house therefore were entirely destroyed. The said farm is now partly occupied by negroes, but it has not been confiscated, as the certificate of the clerk of the United States district Court at Norfolk conclusively shows, and filed herewith, marked B.
