To be the fact, that government agents have been running for some time, a saw mill upon said farm, and have cut down and sawed up most of the valuable timber trees thereon, which has greatly injured and reduced its value. Your petitioner now shows that he has been pardoned by taking the Amnesty oath of President Johnson's proclamation (see copy filed marked C). And that he does not come within any of the fourteen exceptions of said proclamation, as appears by Lieutenant Porter's Certificate herewith filed, marked D.

Your petitioner finally shows that, the unhappy war from which we have emerged, has deprived him of all property, save and except, his real estate located in said County of Warwick, and he, therefore prays to recover the immediate possession of his said farm called "Waterview," Together with the rent that may accrue therefor to the government of the United States the present year and your petitioner will ever pray &c.
