This Indenture made the first day of May in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty five between George Marshall and Phillipe his wife of the town of Portsmouth of the one part and Willliam W. Davis of the same town of the other part. Witnesseth that the said George Marshall and Phillipe his wife in consideration of the sum of of one hundred and sixty dollars & lawful money of this Commonwealth to them in hand paid by the said William W. Davis at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents (the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged) have bargained and sold and by these presents do and each of them doth bargain and sell unto the said William W. Davis his heirs and assigns a certain lot of ground in that part of Portsmouth called New Town beginning at the south west corner of Davis lot fronting and running along Henry Street forty nine and a half feet to Marshall lot west thence along said Marshalls lot sixty feet to Davidsons lot north, thence along said Davidsons lot forty nine and a half feet to Davis lot East thence along said Davis lot sixty feet south to the beginning, To have and to Hold the said lot of ground with all and singular the appurtenances unto the said William W. Davis his heirs and assigns forever to and for the only proper use and behold of him the said George Marshall and Phillipe his wife for themselves and their heirs the paid lot of ground with all and singular the appurtenances before men timed unto the said William W. Davis his heirs and assigns free from the claim or claims of them the said George Marshall and Phillipe his wife or either of their heirs and of all and every person
