The undersigned John Emmerson, in right of his wife Susan B. formally Susan B Cocke, and Annie Theodosia Cocke, of the City of Portsmouth in the State of Virginia, respectfully ask that, their property situate at the South East intersection of Crawford & Queen Streets in the City of Portsmouth with its appurtenances formally the property of Charles L Cocke decd:  may be restored to them, the evidence of their title to the same is shown by the annexed certificate of the Clerk of the Court of the Court for the City of Portsmouth in the State of Virginia and that they have taken the amnesty Oath as prescribed by the proclamation of His Excellency Andrew Johnson President of the United States of the 29 May 1865 will appear by the annexed Certificate of the Clerk of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and by the same Officer's Certificate that the same has not been libelled. They further state that they nor either of them are liable to any of the exceptions contained in the proclamation of the President of the United States of the 29 May 1865.
