This Indenture made this twenty first day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty.  Between John S Millson of the Borough of Norfolk and State of Virginia of the one part and Richard Evans of the said Borough and State of the other part Witnesseth that the said John S Millson for and in consideration of the sum of three thousand dollars to him in hand paid by the said Richard Evans at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents (the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged) hath granted, bargained and sold, aliened enfeoffed conveyed and confirmed. And by these presents Doth grant bargain and sell alien enfeoff, convey and confirm unto the said Richard Evans his heirs and assigns a certain lot piece or parcel of land situate lying and being on the east side of Boush Street in the Borough of Norfolk, and bounded as follows to wit: Beginning on Boush Street at the South West intersection of lot no 142 in Boush old plan with lot no 141, and running thence eastwardly and along the line of lot no 142 to the corner of [[strikethrough]]the[[/strikethrough]]lot no 124 one hundred and eighty five feet more or less, thence along the line of lot no 124 southwardly forty three feet seven inches and one fifth to the line of property (lately) conveyed by John Warren to David Milhads, thence along his line one hundred and eighty five feet more or less to Boush Street, and thence northwardly along Boush Street forty three feet seven inches and a fifth to the beginning; together with the brick dwelling thereon and all and singular the outhouses, improvements rights title privilege and appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining, the said lot piece or parcel of land being the same that was conveyed by the said Richard Evans and Jane Maria his wife to the said John S Millson by their deed dated the nineteenth day of May 1840 to be recorded in the clerks office of said Borough. To have and to hold the said lot piece or parcel of land to the said Richard Evans, his heirs and assigns with the improvements and appertenances aforesaid, in as full and absolute fee simple as the said John S Millson holds the same, under and by virtue of the said deed of the said Richard Evans and Jane

"enfeoffed" is a term relating to land from Feudal Britain. I think it is what is being said in this document but would be grateful if someone could double check.
