At a Court held for Princess Anne County the 7th day of April 1862.

On the motion of Silas S. Gregory who made oath
and with Alexander W. Bell and Solomon W. Smith his securities entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of Twenty Thousand dollars conditioned according to law; certificate is granted him for obtaining letters of administration on the estate of William N. Gregory deceased in due form. - A Copy Teste

State of Virginia - Princess Anne County to wit:

I, John J. Burroughs clerk of the County Court of  Princess Anne aforesaid, in the State of Virginia, do certify that William N. Gregory above named now deceased, died entitled to a tract of land in this County situated near London Bridge containing about 1300 acres, and there is nothing on the records to show he ever transfered or sold it in his lifetime - I do also certify that the County and Court seal was taken away by Federal soldiers stationed at the Courthouse and has not been returned. Given under my hand this 11th day of November 1865.
