1052 Col. Brown Bureau Freedmen Refugee &c. Richmond Va Col. I have the honor respectfully to ask to be put in possession of a tract of land lying in the County of Elizabeth City Virginia containing 51 acres more or less bounded North by the land of William Topping, East by the Salt Ponds South by the land of John Giddings and on the West by the land of William Topping And beg leave respectfully to call your attention to the annexed transcripts from the records of the U.S. District Court to the City of Norfolk dated the 22nd day of November AD 1865 I have the honor to be, Col, Vry Respectfully Thomas Guy County of Elizabeth City to wit On this 6th day of December A.D. 1865 personally appeared before me W. R. Willis, a Notary Public for the County aforesaid to the State of Virginia Henry Watson and made oath that the above mentioned tract of land is not encumbered by any Mortgages, Deeds of Trust, or any other liens of any kind whatever And that there are no Freedmen or colored persons occupying the said land or upon it John H. Watson Sworn to and subscribed before me on the day and year above written W. R Willis Notary Public
