Colonel. O. Brown, Superintendent of the Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned property_

The Petition of Thomas A. Hardy, in which he declares that he is the owner of the following property in the City and County of Norfolk, Virginia_

1. The owner in fee simple of a tract of land in Norfolk County, situate in St Brides parish, boundaries as follows: commencing at the Norfolk Draw Bridge, and running on both sides of the main road leading to Great Bridge, on the east, to the land of Dr Thos Nash decd, and on the west to the land formerly owned by Lowe Herbert decd, and is know as "Herbertville"._ This is shown by the certificate of the clerk of said county, which is hereto appended, marked A.

2. That he is the life tenant of a lot of land in the said City, situate on the north side of Freemason street, No: 54, which is the maiden property of his wife, which she derived from her father David Pearce, more than thirty years ago_ He refers for ownership here, to the certificate of the clerk of Norfolk City, hereto appended, marked B_

Your petitioner begs to state, that in the year 1858, he purchased a plantation in Granville County, N Carolina, and then took possession of it, intending to remove his family to it, when in order to receive them, and that he did remove them to that place in forepart of the year 1861, and then
