This day personally appeared before me, Dr Robt. H. Power, a citizen of the county of York, State of Virginia, for a number of years previous to the Rebellion and at the present time, presiding justice of said County, and made oath in due form of law to the correctness of the following statements of facts, that sometime about November 1855 he sold as executor of Allen Chapman deceased the farm on which the [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] said Chapman formerly resided called Texas, located in Crab Neck York County, to Messrs G. W. Smith & Bro: B. F. Smith, citizens of said county, that the Messrs Smiths' after owning the farm for several years, probably two or three, sold the said farm to Messrs Joel Hays and Rowe of Gloucester County Virginia - these gentlemen never resided on the farm, but located on it Mr Robt Simmons who officiated as agent for the owners and had charge of the saw mill and, I believe, was a part owner in said mill, having purchased considerable lumber from him the bills were made out in the name of Hays Rowe and Simmons.
