City of Norfolk, state of Virginia to wit:
   I, Charles B. Duffield, a notary public for the City of Norfolk aforesaid in the State if Virginia do certify that Charles Sharp and Daniel S. Cherry, executor of Wm. D. Roberts Jr. decd., whose names are signed to the foregoing letter addressed to Charles E. Johnson [[Johnston]], Esquire, Superintendent of Freedmen at [[strikeout]] North [[/strikeout]] Norfolk Va., have acknowledged the same before me in my city aforesaid.  Given under my hand this 18th day of September A.D. 1865.
