proceedings against the said property which they could not have done if he had come within any of said exceptions.

He has been informed and believes that said lots of land have been taken charge of by the Freedmens bureau but of what use they can be to the said bureau he cannot discover as they are small lots in the Town of Hampton neither of them exceeding one sixteenth part of an acre as near as he can judge and having paid nearly two hundred dollars in costs to the United States Court Officers for their fees in said proceedings he most respectfully prays that the same may be now restored to him

The said lots of land are occupied by Freedmen 
Your petitioner is willing that such an arrangement may be made with them for a period not exceeding the present year as to the Bureau may seem just and proper.
