Although Major Webster did not require it before issuing his aforesaid order Your petitioner under the direction of said Capt. Wilder has procured at an expense to himself the following papers viz
   
Paper marked C. herewith filed, showing that no proceedings are pending in the United States Court for the District of Virginia, or have been commenced therein for the confiscation of the property of your petitioner in this district.
   
Paper marked D. showing that your petitioner has taken the Oath of Amnesty proscribed by the President in his proclamation of the 29 May 1865.
   
Paper marked E. showing that your petitioner does not come within any of the exceptions of the said proclamation.
   
In view of the foregoing statement and exhibits herewith filed as aforesaid your petitioner respectfully prays to be restored to the possession of the said lot of which he has been most unjustly deprived.
