for this County in 1861; that I was a sub. elector of the Democratic Party for this Dist; that I assisted in the organization of a Vol. Co. of which I was 1st Lieut; that after the beginning of the hostilities I filled various  positions up to Captain, which rank I held at the time of my parole.
   I deem it proper to add that I have taken the oath already alluded to in good faith and with a earnest desire to restore the peace and prosperity of the Country.
   If you do not see fit to act in my case I must ask that you will forward my papers to Col Brown for his decision.
