The petition of J. W. M. Hopkins, of the County of Norfolk, Virginia, respectfully represents that he is the owner of a Farm, near Deep Creek in the said County of Norfolk, containing two hundred and eighty two acres, the evidence of his title to which he herewith files, and asks that the same may be taken as a part of this his petition. That during the month of May 1862, your petitioner left the County of Norfolk for the South in the war then existing between the South & North, where he remained till the month of May last, when he returned home, and when he found that, in his absence, his farm had been taken possession of by the Government as abandoned property, and in whose possession it still remains. Your petitioner having returned to his allegiance to the Govt, and intending in good faith to keep and observe all laws in force or hereafter passed for the promotion of it's peace and happiness, asks that he may be restored to the enjoyment of his rights as a Citizen of the same,
