Virginia: York County to wit: 

J Bolivar Sheild Clerk of the County of York in the state aforesaid, do hereby certify, that I was  [[strikethrough]] have been [[/strikethrough]] custodian of the archives of the County of York, for many years before the late war or Rebelion that so far as I know or believe Mr. Elliott W. Hudgins is the legal owner of a tract of land in York County called and know by the name of Colemans, containing by estimation, twelve hundred acres. This land is situated between Poquosin & Back Rivers and has never so far as I know and believe been confiscated or sold by the United States authorities. Given under my hand and the seal of the County of York this 27th day of October AD 1865
