The Petition of Fredrick W. Jett of said County respectfully represents that he was the owner in fee of a lot of land in the town of Hampton in said County bounded on the North by the lot of Jefferson Sinclair on the East by the lot of Samuel Cummings South by King that West by the lot of Mr Faco, which lot was libeled for confiscation in the United States district court for Virginia at Norfolk which said libel has been dismissed as appears by papers herewith that marking. Your petitioner has sold and conveyed the said land of Edward King of the County of Elizabeth City

This land is not occupied by Freedmen and has not been since the same was deeded to said Edward King

Edward King filed his petition to your Bureau for restoration to him of said land under date of Dec 23 1865 which petition was on the eleventh Jany 1866 referred to Colonel O Brown Richmond and on the 18 of Jany 1866 returned to Capt CB Wilder with the endorsement "That application for the restoration of this property should be made by the former owner" Signed by order of Col O Brown

Your petitioner now therefore files this his petition together with certificates of his oat that he does not come under any of the exceptions mentioned in the Proclamation of the President of the United States dated May 29 1865 marked B and prays restoration of the said land either to the said Edward King or to himself in order that he may put the said Edward King in possession of the same  And an order of the tenant occupying the same to pa rent since the dismissal of said libel either to the said Edward King or to himself for the said Edward King
