Col. I beg leave most respectfully to submit for your consideration the following facts. I left [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] my home in the County of Warwick, during the occupation of the Peninsula by The Federal Army.  I am the owner of two tracts of land in said County, one my former residence containing Six Hundred and sixteen acres, which is now occupied by Freedmen. I have proposed to The Freedmen living on said farm (formerly owned by me) to rent them small lots of land, on which to erect comfortable buildings, and to give them employment. The other tract of land contains One Hundred and sixty three acres of land, is not occupied by Freedmen, but is in the possession of my tenant WMD. Sykes to whom I leased it for many years previous to the breaking out of the war.  I most respectfully request the restoration of the said two tracts of land in accordance with a recent order from Washington restoring all property which has not been confiscated and sold to its rightful owners.
