Sir:- Having complied with the requirements of the Amnesty Proclamation of President Johnson; I, now, respectfully make application for the restoration of my land in the County of York, Va and other property which I may be able to identify.  My farm is called and known as  Washingtons Lodge, situated three miles south of Yorktown near Wynne's Mill and was just within the Confederate lines when Genl. McClellan came up the Peninsular.  I was forced to leave my home in consequence of its being taken possession of by the Confederate Authorities, the houses being used for headquarter and hospital purposes.  I retired with my family to an obscure place in the mountains where I have quietly remained eversince, having nothing to do with the war.  Being anxious to return, I would be thankful to have possession as soon as practicable, with the privilege of seeding wheat next October.  I would, also, be thankful to be allowed the privilege of building at once in order to have a shelter for my family when I return (my houses having all been burned, it is
