by Mr. R. Churchill, Asst. Supdt of Negro Affairs for the County of York - and that at the time he, the said Geo. W. McCandlish, was so ordered away and dispossessed as aforesaid - he had taken and subscribed to the Oath of Allegiance to the Govt of the United States - and had a safeguard granted him by Maj. Gen. E.D. Keyes, dated 18th Sept 1863 - for the protection of said property.
