I Ann McRea, widow, respectfully represent that I am a resident and citizen of the State of Va, city of Portsmouth, and the owner in fee of a certain house and lot on Loudoun Street in said city, between Crawford and Water Streets. That in May 1862 and before the evacuation of said City, I went to Richmond Va and retired from there, shortly after, to the country for the health of an infant grand child, the care of which devolved upon me after its mother's death. My said property was put by me in the care of Miss A Davis, when I left, from which she was afterwards removed for a Mr Morrell - but by whom I do not know. The said property is on the Registered list - of the Freedman's Bureau  I have never abandoned My property although absent from it - either actually or constructively - it being the only reliable source of housing & credit for a support and the only home I have. I have had no son in the Rebel Army - and no child living - nor have I personally as by pecuniary means aided in the Rebellion except in rendering [[?]] acts  A lone woman and mostly dependent upon the aid of relations or friends, not resident here - my personal comfort induced me to leave when I did no
