I, L A Bilisoly do solemnly swear, in presence of Almighty God, that during the months of April & May in the year A.D. 1865 I was in the city of Charleston in the State of South Carolina, and during that period of time I met with and off and on was continually with Joseph M. Miles of the City of Portsmouth State of Virginia and was conversant with the line of business which he was pursuing and from my personal knowledge testify that said Jos. M. Miles was engaged solely in the trade or business of an Undertaker or burier of the dead. And I furthermore testify that during said time said Jos. M. Miles did not hold my Commission in the army of the so called Confederate States or hold any office under the Government of the so called Confederate States. Nor to the best of my knowledge and belief did said Jos. M Miles ever or at any time hold either Commission or office of any kind under said Army or Government.
Given under my hand and seal this 25th day of July A.D. 1865.
