We the undersigned have the honor to request that the estate compromising four hundred acres situated in Mulberry Island Warwick Co Va and known as Liberty Hall of which we are the lawful owners as the accompanying copies of deeds will show, may be restored to us. The property has been occupied by colored persons under the protection of the Freedmens Bureau for twelve months or more they have in cultivation about fifty acres in corn, so far we have been unable to find any record that the land was rented to them by the Bureau. We do not intend in any way to disturb the colored people living there until the crops are gathered & then we are willing to rent them land under favorable circumstances should this application meet your approval There has been cut off the land 1000 or 1500 cords of wood which has left the farm without scarcely enough timber to replace the fence which has been destroyed.
