William B. Jones who was clerk of the County of Warwick State of Virginia for many years previous to the breaking out of the war and at the time of the inauguration of the same, this day personally appeared before me and made oath, that the records of said County Court show by deeds of record in said Court, that William C. Miner and Samuel H. Miner are entittled to Four hundred acres of land in said County of Warwick. That they have never transferred or conveyed the same, but are still the owners of said land, and that the original deeds conveying said real estate were destroyed by fire in the City of Richmond on the 3rd of April 1865, where they had been deposited for safekeeping
