Norfolk, Sept 5. 1865.

Mrs. Camilla A. Moore petitions the Government for the restoration of her house and lot on Queen St. rented by Robert Francis - a colored citizen.

Mrs. C. A. Moore has been owner of the said property since 1857. - has taken the Oath of Allegiance to U. States, has not been out of this Department during the war - has given no cause of offence to the government, and has paid the required War, and City Taxes.

Under the erroneous impression that her husband Dr. William I. Moore was owner the rent was stopped by the Confiscation Officers. As he was only Surgeon in Confederate Service, and is not included in the list of exceptions under the President's Proclamation - has taken the Amnesty Oath & the Oath of Allegiance to the United States his connection with the petitioner will no longer operate adversely to her rights and interests. Mrs. Moore therefore respectfully petitions that she may be allowed to resume possession of said property_
