I am directed by Maj. Genl Howard to inform you that he has given permission to Dr. Armistead Mott of Leesburg, Loudon [[Loudoun]] County Va. to remain in undisturbed possession of his house, shop, and lot in that place, until a decision is obtained from the U.S. Court approving or reversing the decree of confiscation against him. A copy of this letter has been furnished to Dr. Mott. You will please instruct your Superintendent at this place with respect to this case.
