This Deed made this the 10th day of December in the year 1838, between Richard H. Read & Margaret, his wife, of the first, and Margaret Jarvis of the other part, all of Northampton County, Witnesseth: That the said Richard H. Read & Margaret his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of Four Thousand Dollars to them in hand paid by the said Margaret Jarvis, at and before the sealing & delivery of these presents (the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained & sold, aliened and conveyed, and by these presents, do, & each of them doth grant, bargain & sell, alien and convey to the said Margaret Jarvis her heirs & assigns, a certain tract or parcel of land, situate, lying and being in said county, containing two hundred and thirty seven acres, more or less, and bounded on the North by the lands of Dr. Wm. G Smith; on the East by the lands of Miers W. Fisher and others; on the south by the laws of Hezekiel Dally; and on the West by the lands of Matthew D. Moore; it being the same land which the said Richard H. Read purchased of Thomas Smith Jr. & of William S. Floyd; as will appear reference being had to the deeds from said Smith & Floyd to said Read, now of record in the Clerk's office of said County: To Have and To Hold the said tract or parcel of land together with the tenements, hereditaments & all & singular the premises & appurtenances unto her the said Margaret Jarvis her heirs and assigns forever. And the said Richard H. Read & Margaret his wife, for themselves, their heirs, executors & administrators, do covenant promise & agree to & with the
