I Mattie Parrish do make oath that I am the daughter of Edward B. Parrish deceased - that the said Edward B. Parrish died in Richmond Virginia in the month of March 1863, leaving no widow & no other child but me, but two grandchildren Edward Ivy & Mattie Bates, children of his deceased daughter - that my said father went to Richmond in the month of May, the 27th, 1861, & remained there till he died, that I and all his family were taken also to Richmond, and that I returned from thence to Elizabeth City County in the month of January 1864, having made several unsuccessful efforts to return sooner - that my father at his death was possessed of real and personal property in Elizabeth City County Virginia, among which were two farms, on one of which he & his family resided. that [[strikethrough]] therefore [[/strikethrough]] my father left no other descendants but myself and the two grandchildren above mentioned.
