Petersburg Va Sept 11, 1865
I, T Alphonse Jackson, Genl Superintendent of the company known as "The Petersburg Iron Works" do certify that within the last fortnight I inquired at Danville Va about the following tools which were taken in the [[Summer?]] of 1864 from their shops in Petersburg by the agent of the so called Confederate Sates Government & carried to Danville by him and was satisfactorily informed that the agent of the United States Government had carried them from that place to Norfolk Va. Given under my hand this 11th day of September 1865
