This indenture made the seventh day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-six, between William H. Addington and Mary E his wife of the City of Norfolk in the State of Virginia of the one part and Hannah. W. Petty of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth that the said William H. Addington and Mary E his wife for and in consideration of the sum of Eight thousand two hundred and fifty dollars to them in hand paid by the said Hannah. W. Petty at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto he said Hannah W Petty her heirs and of signs forever all that certain for piece or parcel of land situate on Bule Freemason and Yarmouth Streets in the City of Norfolk aforesaid bounded as follows Beginning on Freemason Street at the intersection of Freemason and Yarmouth Streets and running Westwardly on Freemason Street fifty-three feet six inches, hence northwardly in a line parrallel with Yarmouth Street to Bule Street, hence Eastwardly along Bule Street to Yarmouth Street, hence Southwardly along Yarmouth Street to the beginning with all and singular to the same tenements, hereditaments and appurtenances belonging. To have and to hold the said lot piece or parcel of land and the tenements, hereditaments and appurtenances to the same belonging unto the said Hannah W. Petty her heirs and assigns forever. And the said William H. Addington for himself his heirs executors and administrators doth hereby covenent and with the said Hannah W. Petty her heirs and assigns to warrant generally the property hereby conveyed. Witness the following signatures and seals.

I Charles Sharp a Notary Public for the City of Norfolk in the State of Virginia do certify that Mary E Addington the wife of William H Addington whose names are signed to the writing above bearing date on the 7th day of May 1856, personally appeared before me in the city aforesaid, and being examined by me privily and apart from her husband and having the writing aforesaid fully explained to her, she the said Mary E. Addington acknowledged the said writing to be her act and declared that she had willingly executed the same and does not wish to retract it. Given under my hand this 7th day of May 1856
