Having received a "special pardon" from His Excellency the President, bearing date July 3rd 1865, which "pardon" was exhibited to you, at your office in Richmond by Mr. W.H. Peters on yesterday, I respectfully request the restoration of the property owned by me jointly with Mr Peters, & which is now held by the Bureau, as abandoned property. I have the honor to enclose the following papers 1st Certificate of the Clerk of the U.S. District Court at Norfolk, that I have taken the oath prescribed in the Amnesty Proclamation of the President of May 29th 1865.

2nd Certificate of U.S. District Attorney for Virginia that all proceedings against my property have been discontinued.
